Grand Teton + Yellowstone National Park Night and Day Workshop

Milky+Way+Over+Lower+Yellowstone+Falls.jpeg

Grand Teton National Park sits just south of the iconic Yellowstone National Park and only adds to the majesty of the area. The beauty of the rolling hills along Mormon Row and the backdrop of Grand Teton, Mount Owen, and Teewinot make this national park awe inspiring to photograph. Additionally, Yellowstone National Park is a true experience that everyone should enjoy at least once (if not many more times) in their lifetime. The abundant wildlife and the gorgeous landscapes coupled with some of natures most amazing wonders inside the Yellowstone Caldera, make this expanded tour an incredible opportunity!

Each attendee receives a FREE 3 Legged Thing Tripod!

Day 1: Our tour will begin in Jackson Hole where you will check into your hotel, The Lodge at Jackson Hole. Our group will meet at Pinky G's Pizzeria, where we can introduce ourselves and discuss what each persons goals are, the itinerary, and any other questions you may have for the tour.

Day 2 & 3: Over these 2 days, our group will begin our mornings early to follow the light for the best images and opportunities to capture the incredible mountains, features, wildlife, and landscapes available in Grand Teton National Park. We will explore the surrounding countryside and make our way to Mormon Row, where we will capture one of the most iconic images in the area; T.A. Moulton Barn with the Teton Mountain Range extending directly behind. We will also head up to Signal Mountain for iconic panoramic landscapes, and we will venture to the placid waters of Jenny Lake and Oxbow Bend. There will be an astrophotography night for those wishing to learn how to shoot Milky Way images on the clearest night of these two days. Fall in Yellowstone and Grand Teton means that most wildlife is stocking up for the winter and are very active through out the park! We cannot guarantee wildlife viewing, but we will safely attempt to capture images of brown bear, black bear, wolves, moose, elk, pronghorn sheep, and eagles as we travel the park. The National Elk Refuge, located close to Jackson Hole, helps to provide year round viewing of very impressive elk populations, which will be a great opportunity for us to take while in Grand Teton National Park. Day 3 will be our first Post Processing Day, where we will learn techniques to develop a refined and beautiful image.

Day 4 & 5: We will travel into West Yellowstone and drop off our belongings at our new accommodations, Holiday Inn West Yellowstone. Over these 2 days, our group will begin our mornings early to follow the light for the best images and opportunities to capture the geologic features, wildlife, and landscapes available in the first national park. We will explore Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, Hayden Valley, Yellowstone Lake, The Upper and Lower Falls, Old Faithful, and the abundant natural features of the Yellowstone Caldera. We cannot guarantee wildlife viewing, but we will safely attempt to capture images of brown bear, black bear, wolves, moose, elk, pronghorn sheep, and eagles as we travel the park. Each day will end in West Yellowstone.

Day 6: We will take our last day to develop techniques using Adobe Lightroom (free trial is available). I ask each person to pick 3 of their favorite photos to post process and then share with the group. We will work together to maximize the potential of the software and create works of art that you can cherish for years to come and share with your friends when you get home. This micro workshop will give you the means to develop your images quickly and efficiently using the adjustments tool bar and plugins available for Lightroom.
